OUR VISION
The Mission of Blooms Resorts is to Restore Revive and Refresh through Sustainable Luxury, Hospitality and Immersion in Nature.
Planting DESERT BLOOMS
Our pilot project is Desert Blooms. The first Black woman-owned luxury glamp resort designed specifically for Black and POC travelers to experience nature, adventure and rejuvenation in Joshua Tree California.—
Black U.S. travelers represent more than 13% of the leisure travel market in the United States. That is derived from a total of 458.2 million stays by Black U.S. travelers. And in 2019, Black U.S. leisure travelers spent $109.4 Billion on travel. Despite the economic contributions we make to the hospitality industry, we are still undervalued. This plays itself out in lack of marketing directed towards Black travelers, brand representation, and the amenities offered to us during our stays. In addition to this, according to MMGY Black meeting professionals face hardships when organizing meetings with predominately Black attendees. 84% of organizers indicate some accommodations are more welcoming than others, and 42% shared their attendees have felt less than welcome in their previous stays.
At Blooms we don’t just tolerate Black travelers, we celebrate them, and provide amenities that places their needs as a priority. Whether it’s offering natural hair and skincare products to providing silk pillowcases, bonnets, and du-rags so our guest can rest with ease, Blooms is dedicated to providing excellence in the level of hospitality our guest deserve. We are currently are working to established partnerships with other Black owned and run businesses to provide quality hair and skin care and other amenities that cater to the needs of Black and POC travelers.
Blooms intends to offer a truly unique high desert experience that allows guests to be fully immersed in the serenity of the desert, with all the amenities of a luxury resort. We are raising $750,000 through a fundraising campaign on Ifundwomen to bring Desert Blooms to the caliber of luxury we believe our guest deserve. We intend to enhance 25+ acres of beautiful desert (as seen in the above video) into a glamping eco-retreat. The funds we raise will go towards well digging, establishing solar, building our Dwellings (ten reflective geodesic domes equipped with full bathrooms), outdoor showers, onsite pools, beautiful native gardens, and cooking facilities.
We’ve also partnered with our neighbors Cascade Trails (a black owned Mustang sanctuary in Joshua Tree) to offer our guests access to equine activities including horseback riding. Which in addition to the health benefits of being outside, interactions with horses have been proven to lower blood pressure and reduce stress and feelings of depression and anxiety.
Our parcel is close to both Joshua Tree Park entrances, which we hope will encourage our guests to become reacquainted with nature and maybe help change the narrative of blacks being one of least represented demographics in our State and National parks.
Ultimately we want to reinvest the funds we gain from this resort and plant Blooms across the country.
